SOME OF MY FAVORITE WATERS

CLATTO COUNTRY PARK

Situated on the north side of Dundee, follow the tourist signs for Camperdown and Clatto Parks from the outer ring road.  Clatto plays host to a vast variety of coarse fishes.  Pike, perch, roach, rudd, bream, carp and eel are some of the species that have been landed in recent years.  The car park is in easy reach of the water and Clatto also provides hot & cold drinks, sweets & snacks, on site toilets and other back up services.  Fishing permits can be obtained from the Ranger Station at the Park.  Never an easy water, But in the right area on the right day Clatto can stand up with the best. To save time, ask for local advice from any angler on the bank who will probably be an ADAC members, and will be glad to offer advice on which areas are fishing.

Lairds Loch

Lairds Loch is the home of Angus Dragons Angling Club a private club water first stocked in 1995 with roach, rudd, tench, bream, carp, crucian carp and perch.  Set in the rolling hills of Scotland this water is one of the most picturesque you will ever fish.  Family friendly, Lairds is ideal for picnics, or gentle hill walks for the family while you fish.  Unfortunately daily permits are not available.

Tourist temporary membership now available

     Check the Clubs Web-site http://welcome.to/angus.dragons

Loch Marlee

A vast water set in between Blairgowrie and Dunkeld  which holds a good head of pike, perch, roach, rudd and eel.  No permits are required but as access is very limited always check out the area and have an alternative site in hand.  The head of the Loch, west bank, is very deep and provides good winter fishing for roach to 1½lbs.  Some giant pike have been landed from Marlee.

Loch Clunie

On the same road but 5 miles further on Clunie is more popular as a pike water with the Church End being the most used.  Run by Dunkeld & Birnham AC. permits may be required

River Isla

Better known as a trout and salmon river the Isla also provides great Grayling fishing over the winter season. For years I have heard rumours of huge shoals of roach swimming in the Isla, but I have never came into contact with them.  A major tributary of the Tay this sometimes fast running river gives the Coarse Angler a strong challenge but can also provide great sport. Most of the river is controlled by the Strathmore Angling Society and permits are widely available from any tackle shop in the Tayside area

Rodericks Dam

In Perthshire at the top of Old Scone this tiny water holds a good head of small roach and tench.  Permission from the estate office at scone Palace. A good family day out.... The family visit the seat of Scotland`s ancient Kings while you get the whip and a handful of maggots up to the dam....... Brownie points alround.

Fife Coarse Angling Assoc.

This assoc. has a stocked water with day tickets available from Assoc. committee or the tackle shop in Dumfermilne for details.

R.A.F. Kincaple

Kincaple has a private water for members only, but the word is that day tickets may be available soon.... Check with Ian at Anglers Creel in Dundee.

Loch Fittie

Manmade fishery which was opened in 2000 holds good head of roach, rudd, carp, tench and pike.  Easy fishing, great for kids.  Just out side Dunfermilne in Fife by Kingseat the fishery offers hot food all day, teas, coffee, toilets, and consideration to disabled anglers

Day ticket £5.00  1 Rod ---- £7.00 2 Rods ---- Overnight £10.00 By arrangement
